It’s a repost for today…but crucial for Christmas!
One of my favorite memories of growing up was going to Dollywood for their “Smoky Mountain Christmas” festival. Being that the festival is in the Smoky Mountains, and November/December…it was usually cold! I saw where one of the food stands sold “Holiday Wassail,” and I begged my mom for it. I was instantly hooked. They still sell that amazing drink to this day. I did some digging and found this copycat recipe for the Wassail. Oh yeah…if you haven’t ever been to Dollywood at Christmastime…make it a point to get there. You won’t regret it.
Total Time: 25 mins
Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook Time: 20 mins
- 8 cups apple juice
- 2 cinnamon sticks (each 2″ long)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 3 cups pineapple juice
- 1/3 cup honey
Combine all ingredients into a large saucepan.
Bring to boiling, then reduce the heat, cover, and let simmer 10 minutes.
Remove cinnamon sticks and serve hot in mugs.
