EDITOR’S NOTE: We’ve experimented in the Mayfield-Stewart kitchen…and made Orange Syrup and Raspberry Syrup. You can use any extract to make syrup. Just replace vanilla extract with any extract you prefer.
Vanilla Coke. Vanilla Coffee. Vanilla Milkshakes. They are delicious! You want to make one of them at home, and you don’t have any vanilla syrup. Well, you can easily go to the grocery store and buy vanilla syrup. For me, there’s a satisfaction that comes with knowing you made something on your own. Besides, it’s cheaper. This recipe is easy and tastes like the vanilla syrup from Starbucks.
- 2 cups water
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 tsp vanilla extract
- Combine water and sugar in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes, then add vanilla extract. Remove from the heat and cool. Store in a covered container.
