30 Days of Christmas – Day 16 – Turkey Dressing

Profile_30docI love dressing. I really do. My daddy makes an amazing dressing that I’m trying to pry the recipe away from. Until I can…I use this one.

  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 3 cups chopped celery and leaves
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 3 tsp sage
  • 1/2 tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp poultry seasoning
  • 5 cups soft bread crumbs
  • 5 cups crumbled corn bread
  • 2 cans cream of chicken soup
  • 2 cans water
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vinegar

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine soft bread crumbs and crumbled corn bread.
  3. In smaller bowl, blend cream of chicken soup, water, eggs, and vinegar.
  4. Melt maragarine in a skillet and saute onion and celery. Add salt, pepper, sage, thyme, and poultry seasoning.
  5. Add celery and onion mixture to bread crumbs; toss lightly, then add liquid mixture and blend thoroughly. Turn into greased 9×13-inch baking dish and bake covered with foil for 50 minutes. Remove foil and bake for 10 additional minutes.
